Quilt with Judy
Classes

Judy leads two groups at Stitcher's Crossing in Madison, Wi.

"QUILT SITTERS CIRCLE" meets six times a year on the second Monday and Tuesday of Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept and Nov. She offers a Monday afternoon group at 1:30pm, an evening group at 7 pm and another evening meeting on Tuesday. Judy presents two quilt patterns each meeting, showing the quilt design and explaining a handout that details directions for making each particular quilt. New products are highlighted and announcements of interest for quilters are given as well. This is followed by a "show and tell" of members projects which always proves to inspire the group.

"PIECES OF TIME" meets twelve times over the course of two years, starting in Feb of 2008. The featured pattern will be Lori Smith's PIECES OF TIME. The quilt is made up of 20 pieced 7 1/2" blocks and 12 applique blocks. Members may use any method of applique for these blocks, including: needle turn, fused and machine stitched, felted wool, etc. Meetings are on the third Wed. of Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct and Dec. An afternoon group will meet at 1:30 and an evening group at 6:30pm.

2008 Quilt Sitters Circle
Meetings are at 1:30 or 7pm on Monday and 7pm on Tue. Upcoming meetings:  Jan 12 & 13, Mar 9 & 10

LITTLE PRAIRIE PINES - Mon, Jan 26  10-3pm

This quilt features a star block, set between courthouse log cabin blocks.  The border has a pine bough vine with pinecones appliqued on two opposite corners.  There will be a fall version available with oak leaves and acorns.

IT'S OK - Mon, Feb 9, 16 & 23   1-4pm

Using the techniques of Mary Ellen Hopkins,  Judy will teach you "how to think". Learn how to size a quilt block, figure out what size quilt you want and how many blocks to make and then go on to figure yardage and how many strips to cut. This class will open new doors to you as a quilter.  The class meets for three 3 hr lectures.   A follow-up class will be offered later that will introduce triangles and the math needed to use them (IT'S OK 2).  After taking this series, you can join Quilt Sitters Circle.

MUCKLED NINE PATCH  - Tue, Feb 10   10-3pm

Using a series of nine patches and solid squares, create this stunning quilt that takes 8 fabrics and blends them from one round to the next.   Judy's "cluster method" of putting a quilt together is the main feature of the class...showing you how to sew quilts from a "map" rather than laying it out and picking up rows to sew together.

NOT YOUR GRANDMOTHER'S LOG CABIN  -  Mon, Mar 2   10-3

Using Sara Nephew's new book and the quilt PAINTED DESERT, students will work on 60 degree log cabin blocks that form triangles and diamonds.   The design forms a central star that bursts across the surface of the quilt.
