The GROVE RETREAT

The Grove is conveniently located in the quaint village of Evansville, Wi (on Highway 14), 22 miles southeast of Madison and 14 miles west of Janesville.

As you enter town, you will immediately be welcomed by "Barn Quilts" that adorn many of the village buildings, including our retreat house.

The community offers a coffee shop, several independent restaurants, a District on the National Register of Historic places (with "the finest examples of 1840's-1917 architecture in Wisconsin"), several parks and possibly even a festival will be celebrated during your stay.

Our retreat house is owned by two local women, who have paid close attention to every detail in making our experience a pleasant and memorable one. The building is a one story facility and is totally handicap accessible. It offers 12 bedrooms (8 singles and 4 doubles), featuring full size beds for every quilter, reading light, towels and 1/2 baths in 8 of the rooms. Two large bathrooms with walk-in showers (and hair dryers) are located near the 4 bedrooms that do not have the 1/2 bath. There is a large kitchen, fully equipped, and spacious dining area. On opposite ends of the dining room are two sitting areas, perfect for reading, knitting or even watching the 32" TV... to not miss a Badger or Packer game.

The Creativity room, on the opposite end of the building, has 900 sq feet of space where each quilter has her own 4' table and high-back adjustable chairs.

Amenities include a large ironing surface (3' x 8'), 3 add'l ironing boards with "big boards" and irons, design walls, 4 cutting mats with several rulers provided.

Weekend retreats include continental breakfast and 2 evening meals. For those who like to try something new, there is a featured project included. Sometimes this may be a small, quick, craft-type project or a scrap quilt pattern. Many participants prefer to work on their own independent projects and this is always acceptable. The atmosphere is relaxed and not meant as a "class" type environment. I am available for any quilting questions you may have on projects in progress or you could even come to learn how to quilt, by just letting me know prior to coming.

The weekend retreats (Fri morning 10:30 through Sun at 2:00) os $285. Five day retreats (Wed 10:30 through Sunday 2pm) are $390. There is usually an early day option of arriving the morning before the listed retreat date (listed in parenthesis) for an additional $60.
Meals are shared among the participants, grouping you with two or three others. Continental breakfast food is furnished along with one main dinner. Lunches are on your own.
